Andreotti è una persona perbene

"Vorrei dire anzitutto che per me Andreotti è una persona perbene. Questo per una questione di chiarezza, e per eliminare qualsiasi perplessità a riguardo".

"Dovendo esprimere una valutazione giuridica sugli stessi fatti, la Corte ritiene che essi non possano interpretarsi come una semplice manifestazione di un comportamento solo moralmente scorretto e di una vicinanza penalmente irrilevante, ma indichino una vera e propria partecipazione all'associazione mafiosa, apprezzabilmente protrattasi nel tempo (...). L'imputato (Giulio Andreotti, ndr) ha, non senza personale tornaconto, consapevolmente e deliberatamente coltivato una stabile relazione con il sodalizio criminale ed arrecato, comunque, allo stesso un contributo rafforzativo manifestando la sua disponibilità a favorire i mafiosi. In definitiva, la Corte ritiene che sia ravvisabile il reato di partecipazione all'associazione per delinquere nella condotta di un eminentissimo personaggio politico nazionale, di spiccatissima influenza nella politica generale del Paese ed estraneo all'ambiente siciliano, il quale, nell'arco di un congruo lasso di tempo, anche al di fuori di un'esplicitata negoziazione di appoggi elettorali in cambio di propri interventi in favore di un'organizzazione mafiosa di rilevantissimo radicamento territoriale nell'Isola:
a) chieda e ottenga, per conto di suoi sodali, a esponenti di spicco dell'associazione interventi paralegali, ancorché per finalità non riprovevoli;
b) incontri ripetutamente esponenti di vertice della stessa associazione;
c) intrattenga con gli stessi relazioni amichevoli, rafforzandone la influenza anche rispetto ad altre componenti dello stesso sodalizio tagliate fuori da tali rapporti;
d) appalesi autentico interessamento in relazione a vicende particolarmente delicate per la vita del sodalizio mafioso;
e) indichi ai mafiosi, in relazione a tali vicende, le strade da seguire e discuta con i medesimi anche di fatti criminali gravissimi da loro perpetrati in connessione con le medesime vicende, senza destare in essi la preoccupazione di venire denunciati;
f) ometta di denunciare elementi utili a far luce su fatti di particolarissima gravità, di cui sia venuto a conoscenza in dipendenza di diretti contatti con i mafiosi;
g) dia, in buona sostanza, a detti esponenti mafiosi segni autentici - e non meramente fittizi - di amichevole disponibilità, idonei, anche al di fuori (...) di specifici ed effettivi interventi agevolativi, a contribuire al rafforzamento dell'organizzazione criminale, inducendo negli affiliati, anche per la sua autorevolezza politica, il sentimento di essere protetti al più alto livello del potere legale (...).
Alla stregua dell'esposto convincimento, si deve concludere che ricorrono le condizioni per ribaltare, sia pure nei limiti del periodo in considerazione, il giudizio negativo espresso dal Tribunale in ordine alla sussistenza del reato e che, conseguentemente, siano nel merito fondate le censure dei pm appellanti. Non resta allora che confermare, anche sotto il profilo considerato, il già precisato orientamento ed emettere, pertanto, la statuizione di non luogo a procedere per essere il reato concretamente ravvisabile a carico del sen. Andreotti estinto per prescrizione".

Debian sid, gnome-power-manager suspend/hibernate and a ThinkPad X31

In my process of getting the laptop ready to be used I ran in a little problem really annoying: gnome-power-manager wasn't able to suspend nor to hibernate the laptop.

Luckily (after half an hour of googling) I found this in gnome power manager mailing list.

Have a look at /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf and change the at_console="true" line to user="username_of_you". Then restart dbus.

And that made the trick :D

(I also added myself to powerdev group... you never know ;) )

Debian etch on ThinkPad X31 via USB stick (for dummies like me)

I was trying to install Debian Etch from scratch on my ThinkPad X31 and since it doesn't have a cd-rom I had to use a usb stick.

I followed the steps on Debian Installation Guide.

Copying the files — the easy way didn't work for me... I was getting "Boot Error".

So I tried Copying the files — the flexible way and it didn't go any further.

Then I read this warning:

If your system refuses to boot from the memory stick, the stick may contain an invalid master boot record (MBR). To fix this, use the install-mbr command from the package mbr:

# install-mbr /dev/sda

Well ok that went a bit better... now I was getting this at boot:

Actually it wasn't that self-explaining... So I had to take a step more: read install-mbr docs.

--enable , -e

This option sets the list of boot sectors which may be loaded (or advanced mode). A boot sector may be loaded from one of the first 4 partitions of the disk, or from the first floppy drive. Use --enable + to add a boot sector to the list or --enable - to remove a boot sector from the list. Use --enable = to set the list to . may contain:

1, 2, 3, 4 The specified partition number.
F The first floppy disk.
A Advanced mode (not a boot sector).

It didn't say much but it was a hint. Well in the end it worked like this:
at boot when it shows "MBR FA:" I pressed A and then was showing a more clear "MBR 1234FA:". So I pressed 1 (the partition of the USB stick was the first)... and hurrah it worked.

Bad morning Finland...

Sad awakening for the calm and peaceful Finland this morning: yesterday an 18-years old guy shot 8 persons in a school 80Km from the capital, Helsinki. So nuts exist also in Finland. And nuts also in Finland can have a gun.

Reading what the guy was writing there's no doubt he was out of his mind since long time already.

You might ask yourselves, why did I do this and what do I want. Well, most of you are too arrogant and closed-minded to understand… You will proprably say me that I am”insane”, “crazy”, “psychopath”, “criminal” or crap like that. No, the truth is that I am just an animl, a human, an individual, a dissident.

I have had enough. I don’t want to be part of this fucked up society. Like some other wise people have said in the past, human race is not worth fighting for or saving… only worth killing. But… When my enemies will run and hide in fear when mentioning my name… When the gangsters of the corrupted governments have been shot in the streets… When the rule of idioracy and the democratic system has been replaced with justice… When intelligent people are finally free and rule the society instead of the idiocratic rule of majority… In that great day of deliverance, you will know what I want.

And remember that this is my war, my ideas and my plans. Don’t blame anyone else for my actions than myself. Don’t blame my parents or my friends. Only few men wash the WC (at least in Finland)

The news of the century, finally on Ilta Sanomat (the second? newspaper in Finland) it was confirmed what everybody in the world suspected: men don't use the toilet brush so much. In fact an astonishing 14% doesn't wash the toilet ever and one fourth does it weekly (at least in Finland). One of the best and most payed research ever made and moreover the most useful to the world... :D

La notizia del secolo, finalmente sull'Ilta Sanomat (il secondo giornale finlandese) è stato confermato quello che tutti nel mondo sospettavano: gli uomini non usano la spazzola del cesso così tanto. Infatti uno stupefacente 14% non lava mai la tazza e un quarto lo fa solo settimanalmente (almeno in Finlandia). Una delle migliori e più pagate ricerche mai fatte e soprattutto la più utile per il mondo :D
