Io direi, considerando quello che lo Stato Italiano fa e ha fatto, che soggetti non italiani farebbero l'interesse del paese anche meglio di soggetti italiani. E diamola all'AirFrance sta compagnia... vedi mai che un giorno funzioni davvero...

Forza Clementina!

Beh dopo il mio post di ieri non posso non aderire all'appello di beppegrillo.

Nun me toccate Clementina! Una volta che in Italia c'è UN magistrato con la M maiuscola me lo devono silurare. Non conosco Clementina personalmente ovviamente ma giudico dal suo operato, dalle interviste che ha rilasciato e dai suoi interventi in televisione, soprattutto ad AnnoZero.

L'Italia rimuove la parola giustizia dal vocabolario

Questo post segue il discorso che avevo iniziato qui.

Oggi il Consiglio Superiore della magistratura, l'organo di controllo della magistratura stessa, apre all'unanimità la procedura di trasferimento per Clementina Forleo, il giudice che guarda caso si stava occupando delle scalate a BNL, Antonveneta e RCS. Rea a quanto pare non di aver fatto recuperare allo Stato italiano (ossia a tutti gli italiani) 93 milioni di Euro, bensì di aver detto parole "eccessive, forzate e gravissime" (vicepresidente del CSM, Vacca). La stessa Vacca crede "che sia necessario che emerga che sono cattivi magistrati, e non perchè fanno i nomi dei politici. Questa non è una magistratura seria e questi comportamenti sono devastanti. I magistrati devono fare le inchieste e non gli eroi." Le parole incriminate sono tra le altre: "complicità nel disegno criminoso" dedicate a D'Alema (attuale ministro degli Esteri) e ai suoi amichetti.

Il problema non è un ministro degli esteri che prende e organizza scalate bancarie e a gruppi editoriali. Il problema è ovviamente che il magistrato che indaga su di lui ha “leso la reputazione, il prestigio e l’immagine di uomini politici”, tra l'altro dando quel giudizio perché costretto da una legge (la Boato) già dichiarata incostituzionale.

Oltre i fatti il mio commento personale: è ormai chiaro che il potere (non solo in Italia per carità) è ormai un'entità a sè. I politici non possono essere toccati. Per puro caso gli unici due magistrati a essere "sotto processo" sono la Forleo (nunmetoccateClementina!!!) e De Magistris. L'informazione è di partito, non è più informazione è formazione, indottrinamento.

Il pentolone è davvero al limite, ho davvero paura che presto esploderà.

Linux Mint

I'm a Debian user since a while and I like it, well of course sometimes it's a bit difficult for the not-geek user to work with it, you always have to install something that is not here, copy something that is not there and so on. Despite everything I like it a lot.

I've never tried Ubuntu but I know it's more end-user oriented and easier to install. A week ago a distro based on Ubuntu Gutsy (that is based on debian) was released, so I decided to give it a try on a usb stick live installation.

Its name is Linux Mint and I was honestly really surprised by the ease of use of it and by the richness of the basic system. It's very strong in multimedia support so when it comes to Java, flash and divx support you don't have to do anything just use it.

Unboxing Kela pack

I don't know if Finland is the only country in Europe doing this but, when you're expecting a baby here, they send you an 8Kg pack full of stuff for the kid. I was surprised of the amount of things that the box contains: from diapers to snow suites, from towels to linen for the bed, from the thermometer to the nail scissors. I mean the basics of everything. Really a wonderful idea. Standing ovation for Kela (social security agency in Finland). Here's us unboxing it.



Non so se la Finlandia sia il solo paese in Europa a farlo ma qui, quando aspetti un bambino, ti mandano un pacco da 8Kg pieno di roba per il bimbo. Sono rimasto di stucco quando ho visto quanta roba ci stava dentro: dai pannolini ai vestiti da neve, dagli asciugamani alle lenzuola, dal termometro alle forbici per le unghie. Praticamente tutto il necessario. Davvero una splendida idea. Standing ovation per ala Kela (l'ente delle politiche sociali in Finlandia).

Toghe Rotte: La giustizia in Italia

Ho giusto giusto finito di leggere questo libro (Toghe Rotte - La giustizia raccontata da chi la fa - a cura di Bruno Tinti) che dipinge la giustizia in Italia per quelli che tutti hanno la sensazione che sia: inesistente.

Se volete sapere quanti processi in Italia vedono una sentenza finale e definitiva, quanti veri gradi di giudizio abbia un processo, come funziona la giustizia da dentro... beh compratelo e leggetelo. Non sarete contenti delle risposte ma almeno sarete informati.

FeedFire: create RSS feeds where they don't exist

Say that you visit often a site, say that you would like to subscribe to the site via RSS and say that this site doesn't have RSS feed. Too bad you'd say...

Well here's where it comes feedfire. Free registration allows you to just give any html page and feedfire will think about creating a feed out of that. Downside is that the feed is updated (only) every 24 hrs... but hey you can't have everything for free :)

For who's interested I'm using it to monitor items in huuto.net website (the finnish ebay) you just search an item in huuto.net, copy and paste the address to feedfire and subscribe to the RSS feed.

Gmail, Google reader and the time settings of your computer

Weird thing happened today. Suddenly Gmail webpage wasn't showing up anymore, it was reloading and reloading and reloading... Greader was saying that there were unread items while not showing any of them. I tried with Firefox, nothing. With IE nothing as well.

Reinstalled in order:
* Java
* IE
* Firefox

Nothing... same as before.
In the end I checked the date and it was one month later than today... well, believe it or not, that was the problem... After fixing the date everything bakc to normal.

So if Gmail or Greader don't work, take a look at the your date settings ;)

Mediaset, le frodi fiscali e la prescrizione

Nuove accuse per Silvio Berlusconi e Fedele Confalonieri nel processo in corso sui presunti fondi neri creati da Mediaset. Il pm, Fabio De Pasquale, ha chiesto ai giudici della prima sezione del tribunale di Milano di poter fare una contestazione suppletiva per frode fiscale dal 2001 al 2003, per una presunta evasione pari a 30,9 milioni di euro nei confronti,
tra gli altri, di Silvio Berlusconi, Fedele Confalonieri, Frank Agrama e Daniele Lorenzano, e ad altri imputati del troncone principale del processo riguardante presunte irregolarità nell'acquisto di diritti televisivi e cinematografici da parte di Mediaset.

Le difese del leader di Forza Italia e di Confalonieri erano già intervenute per chiedere la prescrizione per una precedente contestazione suppletiva per falso in bilancio fino al 9 aprile del 2001. Secondo queste difese, la prescrizione della contestazione suppletiva relativa al falso in bilancio del 2000 (che si riferisce al bilancio di Mediaset approvato il 9 aprile 2001) sarebbe già maturata e quindi la contestazione sarebbe già nata "morta".

"Il falso in bilancio del 2000 è un'ipotesi di reato contestata quando il reato è già morto, perché, presumendo che esso sia stato commesso il 9 aprile 2001 e calcolando 5 o 6 anni in termini di prescrizione, il reato è già stato colpito dalla prescrizione" ha detto la difesa di Fedele Confalonieri nell'aula in cui si sta svolgendo il processo sulle presunte irregolarità effettuate da Mediaset nella compravendita dei diritti televisivi.

Ricapitolando:

* Berlusconi, Confalonieri & Co. potrebbero aver frodato il fisco per 30 Mln di euro.
* Berlusconi ha ridotto i tempi della prescrizione per la frode fiscale nel precedente governo
* Il reato (anche se accertato) andrebbe in prescrizione.

Il problema non é non commettere reato é riuscire a non essere giudicati per prescrizione. Tant'é che l'avvocato difensore non é che ha detto "Non é vero non c'é stata frode" ha candidamente detto "Non me ne frega una mazza se ci sia stata o meno tanto non potete condannare nessuno".

Gajardo eh?

E poi si parla di certezza della pena in Italia? Ma per cortesia...

Picasaweb and embedded slideshow

Finally I got why I didn't have the "embed slideshow" button in my picasaweb... I had English (UK) language instead of English (US)...

So if you're missing it too, just go to your settings and change your language from whatever you have to English (US).

Finalmente ho capito perchè non avevo il link "Embed Slideshow" in Picasa... avevo la lingua sbagliata. La funzione è disponibile (per ora) solo se si ha come lingua English (US).

Quindi se anche a voi manca la funzione "embed slideshow" andate sui vostri settings e cambiate la lingua. Apparirà magicamente. ;)

Gmail: new interface

Our beloved Gmail doesn't seem that much different but it changed radically. New things are:
* the new contact manager (really nice and neat)
* New "mute conversation" option (automatically archives the conversation)
* Some more option in the contacts
* Speed improvements (it takes a lot of time to render the first time but then it goes faster)

Anyway the Firefox extension I was using it doesn't work anymore with the new version of Gmail and, especially, I miss the keyboard shortcuts.

Luckily lifehacker.com prepared a new version of BetterGmail that works ;)

Where android of course is the new mobileOS announced by Google.

Andreotti è una persona perbene

"Vorrei dire anzitutto che per me Andreotti è una persona perbene. Questo per una questione di chiarezza, e per eliminare qualsiasi perplessità a riguardo".

"Dovendo esprimere una valutazione giuridica sugli stessi fatti, la Corte ritiene che essi non possano interpretarsi come una semplice manifestazione di un comportamento solo moralmente scorretto e di una vicinanza penalmente irrilevante, ma indichino una vera e propria partecipazione all'associazione mafiosa, apprezzabilmente protrattasi nel tempo (...). L'imputato (Giulio Andreotti, ndr) ha, non senza personale tornaconto, consapevolmente e deliberatamente coltivato una stabile relazione con il sodalizio criminale ed arrecato, comunque, allo stesso un contributo rafforzativo manifestando la sua disponibilità a favorire i mafiosi. c) intrattenga con gli stessi relazioni amichevoli, rafforzandone la influenza anche rispetto ad altre componenti dello stesso sodalizio tagliate fuori da tali rapporti;
d) appalesi autentico interessamento in relazione a vicende particolarmente delicate per la vita del sodalizio mafioso;
e) indichi ai mafiosi, in relazione a tali vicende, le strade da seguire e discuta con i medesimi anche di fatti criminali gravissimi da loro perpetrati in connessione con le medesime vicende, senza destare in essi la preoccupazione di venire denunciati;
f) ometta di denunciare elementi utili a far luce su fatti di particolarissima gravità, di cui sia venuto a conoscenza in dipendenza di diretti contatti con i mafiosi;
g) dia, in buona sostanza, a detti esponenti mafiosi segni autentici - e non meramente fittizi - di amichevole disponibilità, idonei, anche al di fuori (...) di specifici ed effettivi interventi agevolativi, a contribuire al rafforzamento dell'organizzazione criminale, inducendo negli affiliati, anche per la sua autorevolezza politica, il sentimento di essere protetti al più alto livello del potere legale (...).
Alla stregua dell'esposto convincimento, si deve concludere che ricorrono le condizioni per ribaltare, sia pure nei limiti del periodo in considerazione, il giudizio negativo espresso dal Tribunale in ordine alla sussistenza del reato e che, conseguentemente, siano nel merito fondate le censure dei pm appellanti. Non resta allora che confermare, anche sotto il profilo considerato, il già precisato orientamento ed emettere, pertanto, la statuizione di non luogo a procedere per essere il reato concretamente ravvisabile a carico del sen. Andreotti estinto per prescrizione".

Debian sid, gnome-power-manager suspend/hibernate and a ThinkPad X31

In my process of getting the laptop ready to be used I ran in a little problem really annoying: gnome-power-manager wasn't able to suspend nor to hibernate the laptop.

Luckily (after half an hour of googling) I found this in gnome power manager mailing list.

Have a look at /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf and change the at_console="true" line to user="username_of_you". Then restart dbus.

And that made the trick :D

(I also added myself to powerdev group... you never know ;) )

Debian etch on ThinkPad X31 via USB stick (for dummies like me)

I was trying to install Debian Etch from scratch on my ThinkPad X31 and since it doesn't have a cd-rom I had to use a usb stick.

I followed the steps on Debian Installation Guide.

Copying the files — the easy way didn't work for me... I was getting "Boot Error".

So I tried Copying the files — the flexible way and it didn't go any further.

Then I read this warning:

If your system refuses to boot from the memory stick, the stick may contain an invalid master boot record (MBR). To fix this, use the install-mbr command from the package mbr:

# install-mbr /dev/sda

Well ok that went a bit better... now I was getting this at boot:

MBR FA:

Actually it wasn't that self-explaining... So I had to take a step more: read install-mbr docs.

--enable , -e

This option sets the list of boot sectors which may be loaded (or advanced mode). A boot sector may be loaded from one of the first 4 partitions of the disk, or from the first floppy drive. Use --enable + to add a boot sector to the list or --enable - to remove a boot sector from the list. Use --enable = to set the list to . may contain:

1, 2, 3, 4 The specified partition number.
F The first floppy disk.
A Advanced mode (not a boot sector).

It didn't say much but it was a hint. Well in the end it worked like this:
at boot when it shows "MBR FA:" I pressed A and then was showing a more clear "MBR 1234FA:". So I pressed 1 (the partition of the USB stick was the first)... and hurrah it worked.

Bad morning Finland...

Sad awakening for the calm and peaceful Finland this morning: yesterday an 18-years old guy shot 8 persons in a school 80Km from the capital, Helsinki. So nuts exist also in Finland. And nuts also in Finland can have a gun.

Reading what the guy was writing there's no doubt he was out of his mind since long time already.

You might ask yourselves, why did I do this and what do I want. Well, most of you are too arrogant and closed-minded to understand… You will proprably say me that I am”insane”, “crazy”, “psychopath”, “criminal” or crap like that. No, the truth is that I am just an animl, a human, an individual, a dissident.

I have had enough. I don’t want to be part of this fucked up society. Like some other wise people have said in the past, human race is not worth fighting for or saving… only worth killing. But… When my enemies will run and hide in fear when mentioning my name… When the gangsters of the corrupted governments have been shot in the streets… When the rule of idioracy and the democratic system has been replaced with justice… When intelligent people are finally free and rule the society instead of the idiocratic rule of majority… In that great day of deliverance, you will know what I want.

Only few men wash the WC (at least in Finland)

The news of the century, finally on Ilta Sanomat (the second? newspaper in Finland) it was confirmed what everybody in the world suspected: men don't use the toilet brush so much. In fact an astonishing 14% doesn't wash the toilet ever and one fourth does it weekly (at least in Finland). One of the best and most payed research ever made and moreover the most useful to the world... :D

La notizia del secolo, finalmente sull'Ilta Sanomat (il secondo giornale finlandese) è stato confermato quello che tutti nel mondo sospettavano: gli uomini non usano la spazzola del cesso così tanto. Infatti uno stupefacente 14% non lava mai la tazza e un quarto lo fa solo settimanalmente (almeno in Finlandia). Una delle migliori e più pagate ricerche mai fatte e soprattutto la più utile per il mondo :D

Silvio: assolto per aver commesso il fatto

I miei due cent per diffondere la "buona" novella (ossia un pò di vera informazione).

Berlusconi assolto nel processo SME. Alcuni giornali dicono che non ha commesso il fatto, addirittura il Giornale (di famiglia) cita l'artcolo per cui é stato assolto:

«perché manca, è insufficiente o è contraddittoria la prova che il fatto sussite, o che l’imputato lo ha commesso»

suggerendo che lui il fatto non l'ha proprio commesso...
C'è chi dice che bisogna chiedere scusa a Silvio, che ha passato 20 anni di sofferenza (chi? lui?... ma dai...), chi dice che é una grande notizia (per lui non per la giustizia), chi invece ricorda che é stato fatto un uso politico della giustizia (mah...)
Ora la storia è un pò diversa ma ovviamente il Giornale non ce lo spiega. Ce lo spiega il suo difensore, avv. Pecorella (smarrita?):

“Squillante per le sue funzioni non era in grado di ingerire con Sme: già per la Corte di Appello non c’era dubbio che il bonifico ‘Orologio’ sia riconducibile a Berlusconi, ma siccome non c’è stato alcun intervento di Squillante, quella dazione non prova l’iscrizione del magistrato al libro paga”.

Difatti è straprovato che Previti pagasse Squillante e che i soldi provenissero da conti Fininvest. Squillante era costantemente a libro paga di Previti (e Berlusconi) ma Berlusconi viene assolto perchè non è provabile che il fatto che Squillante fosse a libro paga di Silvio abbia in qualche modo condizionato la vicenda SME.

Come Travaglio Scrive:

Berlusconi, secondo il suo stesso difensore, pagò un giudice tramite Previti, ma non è reato. Le motivazioni della Cassazione, a questo punto, si annunciano avvincenti: davvero la Suprema Corte metterà nero su bianco che è lecito pagare un giudice? O magari che è lecito solo quando lo fa Berlusconi?

My two cents to spread the good novel (or a bit of real information).

Berlusconi absolved in the SME trial. Some newspapers say that he didn't commit the fact, "Il Giornale" (the family's newspaper) even quotes the law that absolves Silvio:

«because it's missing, is not sufficient or is contradictory the proof that the fact subsists, or that the suspect commited it»

almost suggesting that he didn't really do anything...
There's who says that we need to apologize to Silvio, that he passed 20 years of suffering (who? him?... come on..., who says it's great news (for him not for the justice probably, who reminds that justice has been used with political intents (mah...)
Now the story is a bit different, but obviously "Il Giornale" does not explain it to us. But his defender attorney, att. Pecorella, gives us the right glance on it:

Squillante (the corrupted judge) was not able to interfere with SME trial: already for the Corte d'Appello (2nd grade of italian trials) there was no doubt that the "Orologio" money transfer operation was linkable to Berlusconi, but, since there's no intervention of Squillante, that transfer does not proof that the judge was payed for that reason

In fact is extra-proved that Previti was paying Squillante and that those money were coming from Fininvest bank accounts. Squillante was constantly on Previti's (and so Berlusconi's) payroll, but Berlusconi has been absolved because it cannot be proved that the fact that Squillante was on his payroll changed in any way the mind of the judge in the SME trial.

As Travaglio is writing:

Berlusconi, according to his defendant, payed a judge through Previti, but it's not a crime. The reasons of the Cassazione (3rd and last grade of italian trials), at this point, will be thrilling: really the Supreme Court will write black on white that is licit to pay a judge? Or maybe that it's licit only when Berlusconi is doing it?

Mastella si che è un gentiluomo...

Tanto per capire meglio chi è il ministro della Giustizia, è uno che dice di De Magistris:

"Mi ha iscritto scientemente nel registro degli indagati perché sapeva che, iscrivendomi, gli veniva tolta l'inchiesta e diventava un eroe nazionale".

Eh beh certo uno segue un'inchiesta per tre anni, lavora di domenica e durante le feste comandate e poi dopo che un ministro a caso ne chiede il trasferimento d'urgenza per motivi scelti a caso dall'ultimo numero di Topolino sai che fa? Iscrive lo stesso ministro nel registro degli indagati per farsi togliere il proprio lavoro... a Mastè ma per cortesia... nel registro degli indagati ci stavi da tempo... mica c'avemo l'anello al naso...

"Non ho alcuna difficoltà: l'inchiesta vada avanti. Sono il primo a chiederlo perché voglio che questi schizzi di fango che mi sono stati gettati addosso mi vengano tolti".

Mastellino caro, non ce lo devi dire tu che l'inchiesta deve andare avanti tanto l'inchiesta, dove sei indagato per reati non proprio leggeri, va avanti da sola. E magari succede pure che una volta che ti tolgono di dosso gli schizzi di fango si inizia a vedere quell'altra cosa marrone che hai addosso.

L'ultimo rantolo della giustizia italiana

E così apprendiamo la notizia che è stata tolta l'inchiesta a De Magistris, quel magistrato che stava indagando, tra gli altri, anche su Mastella e Prodi, rispettivamente Ministro della Giustizia e Presidente del Consiglio.

Fondamentalmente è successo questo: il controllato (De Magistris) indaga sul controllore (Mastella), il controllore lo mette sotto indagine e così il controllato essendo messo sotto inchiesta dal controllore diviene incompatibile con l'inchiesta che sta conducendo.

Bellissima storia di giustizia all'italiana. Giustamente Di Pietro parla di giustizia italiana al capolinea e di governo al capolinea con essa.

Ora mettete il bavaglio anche ai blog e lo stato di polizia è alle porte...

The new NSeries Internet Tablet N810 saw the light today at around 8 pm (EEST). I'm really proud and happy of this product, we spent a lot of work on it to make it happen and... hey we made it! :D

It sports a lot of features but I won't list them here since you can find them in the official press release.

What I want to emphasize here is the incredible human capital that is behind the creation and the realization of this product. We've put in the device a lot of passion and I won't say that is perfect but it has something. And I like it.

Mozilla Mobile

After bringing mozilla on the Nokia N800 (and 770) with microb, mozilla foundation announced that will be focusing on bringing firefox into the mobile world.

Very interesting is the project Joey (in beta) that aims to "translate" the content that you normally access from your pc, into a format suitable for your mobile device.

It's pretty clear now how important is becoming the mobile segment for internet.

Come beppegrillo racconta nel suo post pare che alcuni video siano stati cancellati da youtube.com per esplicita richiesta di mamma RAI. Cosa certo non nuova dalle parti di youtube, ma pare che siano stati cancellati video "scomodi" che sono molto più reperibili su youtube che sul sito stesso della RAI... Sarà che mamma RAI sta tentando di bloccare la vera informazione? La RAI è pubblica è già pagata da molti italiani, il copyright è nostro, non è della RAI!

Che chiede (giustamente) ad alcuni giornalisti di chiedere PUBBLICAMENTE scusa per una serie di insulti contro "la rete" e gli internauti... Leggendo cosa sono riusciti a dire sono rimasto annichilito.

Come fai a darci lezioni di cosa sia un blog se dimostri di ignorarlo completamente? Se ti fossi informato un secondo prima di scrivere sapresti che:
a) il blog non lo devi scegliere, il blog è tuo e scrivi sempre su quello, poi magari puoi commentare su qualche altro blog i post di quello.
b) Non serve spulciarsi 70 milioni di blog per trovare quello che cerchi. Esiste Google, esiste Technorati e altri blog aggregator, esistono gli RSS feed... ma che parlo a fare...
c) Non si deve avere tanto tempo a disposizione, si devono avere poche, buone idee, cose che evidentemente madre natura non ti ha fornito di serie.
d) La casa del Blog di beppegrillo è internet... ma penso che anche questo termine tu lo ignori.

Giampiero Mughini, Libero:
il Gran Comizio di Grillo è il frutto della subcultura propria a internet, del linguaggio insolente e beffardo (ma soltanto quello) di generazioni ormai ignare del linguaggio dei giornali e dei libri, e bensì esperte in sms e e-mail che più spicce e più rozze sono meglio è. E’ il nostro tempo, certo. E’ un tempo di merda.

Subcultura proria a Internet? Ma la domanda viene spontanea ma Mughini sa cos'è Internet. Firefox gives you Better GMail

I use quite heavily GoogleReader and I love its keyboard shortcuts (thanks quijote for the advice ;). I was trying to find a way to improve the keyboard shortcuts in GMail also on the style of GReader. So I came across this incredible add-on for Firefox that gives to GMail just what it was missing. The extension is called Better GMail. Apparently it is out since April this year, but I haven't really heard that much about it. It's a collection of all the bests GMail greasemonkey scripts.

Greasemonkey is a Mozilla Firefox extension that allows users to install scripts that make on-the-fly changes to specific web pages. As the Greasemonkey scripts are persistent, the changes made to the web pages are executed every time the page is opened, making them effectively permanent for the user running the script.

Intrigued by the screenshots I installed it and, well I've been playing with it since 3 hours now and the usability improvement is really astonishing.
I'll list here the features that I like the most:

• Bottom post in replies
• (thanks to Jesus now I hate top-posting)
• Filter Assistant
• Force https connection in Gmail
• Improved keyboard shortcuts
• TinyURL auto conversion

In addition to those ones there are many other features and, trust me, you want to try them ;)

Google earth: Click on the sky button

Google does never finish to surprise me... you can now download the latest version of Google Earth and view not only the Earth bu also the sky... Just click on the sky button :)

Remember those nights when you could surprise your new chick telling her to watch the sky and explaining that this or that was that star or that constellation... well there will be many of you out there from now on ;)

webdav cadaver and SSL certificates

I ran today in a bit of a problem with cadaver (cmd line interface for WebDAV). I wanted to connect to a DAV share on a secure site that had a self-signed certificate and wanted to put the procedure in a script. Each time cadaver was asking to accept the certificate and this wasn't compatible with the fact of putting it in a script.
So after 1 hour of googling I found out that cadaver fetches the CA certs from an not well defined "ca-bundle.crt" file and that the version compiled in debian lenny (0.22.5-2) doesn't have it defined. And (what is worse) you can define the variable only at compilation time.

So if you run into the same problem. Just do this:

1) Get the cert:

echo "quit" | openssl s_client -connect host:port 2>&1 |\
sed -ne '/-BEGIN CERTIFICATE-/,/-END CERTIFICATE-/p' > cert

2) Added the cert to the certificates bundle file:

cat cert >> /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt

3) Get cadaver sources:

apt-get source cadaver

4) Recompile them with the right options:

./configure --with-ca-bundle="/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt" --with-ssl && make

5) Use the compiled version instead of the installed one in your script (or make install to install it)

Lorenzo Cesa: Precedenti giudiziari

Nel 1992 Cesa fu indagato dalla Procura di Roma per abuso d'ufficio, insieme alla giunta del sindaco Franco Carraro, per presunti illeciti riguardo l'emissione di un finanziamento pari a 90 miliardi di lire destinato ad un incarico di censimento del patrimonio immobiliare del Comune. Cesa non viene condannato.

A partire dal 1993 ha avuto un processo intentato per concussione, accusato dai magistrati romani di aver riscosso una mazzetta di trecentomila euro per conto del ministro Gianni Prandini, subendo per questo in quell'anno un periodo d'incarcerazione, dopo alcuni giorni dall'ordinanza d'arresto. Inizialmente Cesa si sottrasse all'arresto, dal 6 all'8 marzo 1993, rimanendo due giorni in latitanza per poi consegnarsi spontaneamente al pubblico ministero.

Nelle fasi del processo ha ammesso il verificarsi del fatto, dichiarandosene però estraneo, in quanto i soldi non sarebbero stati destinati a lui ma a Prandini, all'epoca ministro dei lavori pubblici e presidente dell'Anas e all'ingegner Antonio Crespo (direttore generale dell'ente).

Cesa dichiarò di aver ricevuto [...] delle contropartite politiche da parte del ministro che sovvenzionava le nostre iniziative politiche.": il GUP riconobbe l' "ampia confessione dei fatti contestati".

Il 21 giugno 2001 è condannato in primo grado, insieme ad altri responsabili, a 3 anni e 3 mesi di reclusione per corruzione aggravata. Con lui, Prandini riceve una condanna a 6 anni e 4 mesi e a Crespo vengono dati 4 anni e 6 mesi. Le imputazioni confermate riguardano 750 miliardi di lire in appalti truccati, che hanno fruttato agli interessati 35 miliardi di lire in tangenti tra il 1986 e il 1993.

La Corte d'Appello ha annullato l'anno seguente la sentenza per aver riscontrato una incompatibilità del Gip: il Tribunale dei Ministri (assegnato per via del coinvolgimento dfel ministro Prandini), non può sostenere il ruolo accusatorio e deve restituire la causa al Gip di Roma, il quale dichiara gli atti del 2005 come "inutilizzabili" e dispone il "non luogo a procedere". Intanto, subentra la prescrizione del reato grazie alle modifiche alla legislazione attuate dal Governo Berlusconi.

Nel marzo 2006 è stato nuovamente indagato dalla procura di Catanzaro per truffa e associazione per delinquere,nell'inchiesta denominata "Poseidone": l'accusa riguarda cinque miliardi di lire truffati all'Unione Europea tramite una società fantasma, la Spb Optical Disk Srl, di cui era comproprietario con il ANAS Giovanbattista Papello e Fabio Schettini, capo della segreteria di Franco Frattini.

(una piú dettagliata versione della sua carriera) propone di aumentare lo stipendio ai parlamentari fuori sede perché, poverelli, dato il duro lavoro che fanno che comporta lunghi periodi di assenza da casa e quindi di solitudine così potrebbero pagare almeno un appartamentino alla famiglia magari in centro e evitare di andare a mignotte.

Beh in effetti 15000 euro al mese sono pochi... poverelli. E i voli, i treni, i traghetti, gli autobus, le auto blu gratis non bastano. E i pranzi e il barbiere a due lire un dettaglio. E gli assegni di 3000 euro al mese per pagare a nero i collaboratori (spesso gli stessi familiari) non incidono.

Beh si in effetti io altri 4000 euro gleli darei, in fondo si fanno in quattro per noi. Lavorano sempre. Sempre. Fanno leggi su leggi e le fanno per noi!

Posto la mia risposta a questo post di Beppe Grillo a riguardo delle ambasciate italiane nel mondo. Debbo ritenere che qui siamo fortunati...

A Helsinki (Finlandia) è vero, quando si entra in ambasciata, si sente e si vede che si è in Italia, ma questo non con accezione negativa. I dipendenti sono tutti italiani, c'è il carabiniere che legge il giornale e l'impiegato che prende il caffè. Forse perché siamo pochi in Finlandia, forse perché siamo fortunati però sono sempre tutti gentili e disponibili. Ogni volta che io o qualche mio connazionale ci siamo recati in ambasciata siamo sempre riusciti a risolvere i nostri problemi (per carità qualche disguido può sempre capitare). Ovviamente bisogna rispettare gli orari ma alla fine si torna a casa in poco tempo e ci si fanno anche due chiacchere. Per quel che riguarda la mia esperienza voto assolutamente positivo allo staff.

Time to backup your google data

Digging around I found this interesting post on how to backup your google data. I just stopped a moment and realized that practically all my life is being held in the hands of big G and if something happens to that little big server that is taking care of me... well... I don't want to think about it... :D

(another) recipe for risotto with radicchio

Ingredients for 2 persons:

180-200 gr. of rice for risotto (we eat a lot :D )
2 heads radicchio (in Finland is called punainen salaatti )
1/2 cup finely chopped white onion
1 glass extra virgin olive oil
30 gr. butter
1 lt. vegetable broth
1 full glass red wine
Grated Italian Parmesan



Instructions:

1. In a large non stick pan cook the onions in butter and olive oil until they're translucent being careful not to brown too much them.
2. Meanwhile, wash and slice the radicchio thinly.
3. When the onions are ready add the radicchio and cook them for about 10 minutes or until they are reduced to less than half their original volume. Mixing often.
4. Add the rice and mix well for 3-4 minutes so that the rice changes color and the moisture from the radicchio is absorbed into the rice.
5. Add the wine and continue mixing until it is absorbed.
6. Add about a glass of <> broth and reduce the heat to medium. Mix it frequently.
7. Wait until the rice absorb the broth and then you can...
8. Continue adding broth in the same quantity mixing frequently. Continue doing so until the rice is nearly cooked. This will take practice since every rice cooks differently.
9. When the rice is almost cooked, it should be a bit more that according to package direction, put the Parmesan and mix. Remove from the stove, cover the pan with the lid and let it stand for 5 minutes.
10. Serve the rice and accompany it with extra Parmesan for the topping.

Il sequestro proviene da una querela per diffamazione presentata da Emilio Fede nei miei confronti per la famosa contestazione al circolo della stampa. Con il medesimo provedimento hanno cancellato un mio post relativo alla vicenda Fede e i commenti in calce. Non hanno potuto, per motivi tecnici, togliere il video da youtube

Naturalmente farò immediata richiesta di dissequestro. Intanto posso solo scrivere queste righe in questa sede. Fra poco manderò un comunicato ai siti amici, e vi chiedo fin d’ora di farlo girare.

Con Fede ce la vedremo in tribunale, magari davanti a uno dei magistrati diffamati e spiati negli anni del governo del suo datore di lavoro.

E continueremo a criticare lui e i suoi simili sulla pubblica piazza, in nuove manifestazioni di dissenso.
Nessuno riuscirà a sequestrare la libertà di espressione, mia e degli amici di Qui Milano Libera e del blog: questo è certo.

Il guardaspalle e occasionale portavoce di Emilio Fede si chiama Leo Peschiera. Gestore di locali di lap dance e altro. Il vero protagonista della piazzata al circolo della stampa è lui. Si distingue per una sublime e involontaria comicità. E poi ha il fisico giusto, con tanto di rasatura laterale.
Siamo tutti in attesa della querela annunciata dal direttore del tg4. Per lui non siamo altro che “mascalzoni”, come ha detto in tv. In piazza tuttavia ha promesso di difendere il suo onore in privato, “senza carabinieri né polizia”.
Ecco un nostro video dell’incontro, dove si nota, oltre alla velata minaccia, anche la risposta alla nostra domanda iniziale (sulle frequenze abusive di Rete 4) e il successivo sputo dalle scale. Defilate e immancabili le giovani accompagnatrici.

Chemtrails also in Rome

I had the possibility last week to go back to Rome and (not surprisingly) also there I found our beloved chemtrails. It was amazing to see how many trails and what kind of texture they were making... see below...

It seems that they are every-freaking-where...




So I googled a bit and found this very interesting site, and watched the documentary about chemtrails of Mr. Carnicom, and I wa astonished to see the extent of the phenomenon...

Why nobody does anything??? Why not even a single government aknowledge this thing and recognize that we've being sprayed, that our atmosphere is being filled with (not so) unknown substances???

And moreover why it seems so normal to everybody, what kind of magic did they do to us?

Midsummer Chemtrails

This midsummer we got the gift of having the chemtrails over Suomenlinna (the island-fortress in front of Helsinki - Finland).
The sequence in the image spans a time lap of almost an hour (first taken at 2.30pm last taken at 3.22pm). Clearly visible how the trail keeps expanding instead of disappearing.

Who would have thought that I had to come to Finland to have a ride on a Ferrari? Well I wouldn't... anyway it happened :) and it was freaking fun... The good part was that I wasn't driving but the drivers were professional drivers (Jari and Janel Nurminen, they participate to the Ferrari Challenge Scandinavia). The experience was something between being in a washing machine and being on the crazy mountains, the only difference was that somebody was driving and there were no rails underneath...

Ma la cosa più fica di tutto è che le amiche multinazionali dell'energia hanno sgamato che in Italia si può trivellare come e quanto ti pare.

Leggete le condizioni a cui vengono date le concessioni:

· I canoni annui per le licenze sono solo di 5 Euro per km²;

· I permessi si possono introdurre per qualsiasi area e ad ogni momento, non vi sono turni e le candidature possono portare su aree grandi fino a 750 km2;

· I permessi sono concessi per un periodo iniziale di sei anni, e possono passare cinque anni prima che sia richiesto alla società il permesso di trivellare

· I dati sismici regionali offshore sono accessibili;

· Le royalties sono limitate fino a un massimo di solo il 7% (4% per il petrolio offshore), tuttavia non sono richieste royalties per i primi 20 milioni annui di metri cubici di gas e 20000 barili di petrolio prodotti da ogni singolo accumulatore;

· L'aliquota massima sul reddito sia per le tasse regionali che per gli utili delle società è del 35% massimo."

E la cosa ancora più assurda è chi ha dato l'autorizzazione: i permessi sono stati decretati da un direttore della Regione, tale Fabio Zita. UN DIRETTORE DELLA REGIONE!! Manco il presidente...

Per fare cosa? Per comprare pc portatili e palmari, con tanto di collegamento all’agenzia Ansa, e per aumentare i fondi destinati a spese di cancelleria, strumenti informatici e iniziative politiche (studi, convegni, ricerche), per pagare lettere e fotocopie, la stampa di manifesti ed inviti, e ovviamente l’aggiornamento culturale. DeActiveX!

Riprendo un'iniziativa partita da qui

Pare che mamma Rai.tv abbia scelto di utilizzare ActiveX per distribuire i propri contenuti. Questo ovviamente taglia fuori tutti quello che utilizzano Firefox (anche su Windows) e/o Gnu/Linux.
Mandate un'email con testo il testo qui sotto a rai-net@rai.it e a istruzioni@rai.it per far capire che non tutta Italia usa Windows (e men che meno tutto il mondo).

ho visitato il nuovo sito www.rai.tv. Utilizzo come sistema operativo GNU/Linux e mi è stato impossibile fruire dei contenuti video poichè essi utilizzano la tecnologia ActiveX.

www.rai.tv è un servizio pubblico, dovrebbe essere accessibile da chiunque utilizzando qualsiasi sistema operativo. Così come è possibile vedere i programmi televisivi della Rai con qualsiasi televisore, indipendentemente dalla marca o dalle specifiche caratteristiche tecniche.

La scelta di utilizzare ActiveX danneggia il servizio www.rai.tv stesso perchè preclude l’accesso non solo agli utenti GNU/Linux, che sono in aumento, ma anche agli utenti Windows che utilizzano il browser Firefox. Il plugin proposto (http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/plugin.htm#download) infatti non è disponibile per le ultime versioni di Firefox, costringendo perciò gli utenti ad utilizzare versioni vecchie, ritenute ormai insicure del browser.

La scelta di utilizzare ActiveX è in contrasto con le direttive di accessibilità promosse dal W3C (http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/).

In sostanza la scelta di utilizzare ActiveX limita l’accessibilità ad un servizio pubblico, un servizio che tutti contribuiscono a pagare - anche chi utilizza il sistema operativo GNU/Linux - e di cui tutti devono poter usufruire - anche chi utilizza il sistema operativo GNU/Linux -.

Io NOME e COGNOME chiedo perciò che tutti i contenuti multimediali presenti su www.rai.tv siano resi disponibili attraverso tecnologie e formati accessibili anche con il sistema operativo GNU/Linux e il browser Firefox.

Rivendico il diritto ad usufruire di un servizio pubblico attraverso le tecnologie che ritengo più sicure.

Chemtrails in Helsinki

I was riding with the bike yesterday, a wonderful Summer Sunday. Going towards Helsinki I see a plane that is passing in the sky, following the same path of another plane already gone by. The trail that the first plane left behind was still visible, I thought it was just passed and that was the 'normal' trail made by planes. Also the second one was leaving a white compact trail. I again thought it was normal. Once got close to Helsinki, around 30 minutes later, I turned my bike over to go back home. Surprise surprise the trails were both still there, the first one was expanding and second was still compact though starting to expand. "Trails that last for so much???" The connection in my mind was straightforward. No please, not also here...

Per l'Italia è disponibile in beta questo sito che è fondamentalmente un videoregistatore online. Si può programmare e poi i video vengono resi disponibili in podcast (formato mp4). Molto utile anche la possibilità di avere il feed RSS delle vostre registrazioni.

Aggiornamento dopo averlo provato per un po`: l`idea è veramente azzeccata, interfaccia molto semplice (forse anche troppo) e rss estremamente utili, i file vengono conservati per 2 giorni di default, 3 al massimo.
Problemi: spesso sono presenti artifacts nel video, ma, cosa molto più fastidiosa a volte il video si perde dei pezzi qua e là, roba di secondi ma che non ti ci fa capire più niente. In generale un buon servizio che può migliorare. Tutto fa pensare che diventerà presto a pagamento e staremo a vedere i prezzi...

La denuncia del documentario è più che altro rivolta al Vaticano che copre i fatti e mette a tacere vittime, amici e parenti, e sposta i preti di parrocchia in parrocchia pur sapendo che nella nuova parrocchia risuccederà quel che è già successo nella vecchia.

Quando si dice predicare bene e razzolare male.

La cosa che più mi fa venire i brividi è il fatto che le vittime, bambini, adolescenti siano semplicemente messi sotto silenzio, senza alcun aiuto, gente che si porterà dentro questi fatti per tutta la vita, che non dimenticherà mai quello che gli è successo. E che sarà sicura di una cosa soltanto: che il suo carnefice non sarà mai punito.

Questo è di un cinismo agghiacciante... nel documentario lo chiamano Damage Control da parte della Chiesa. Io lo chiamerei vomito.

Configure pam on Debian to authenticate against an ldap server (sarge and etch)

There are tons of guides on how to use pam to link your debian to ldap, this is just another one, made as simple as possible.

Configure access to a Debian machine using PAM and LDAP

We assume here that you already have an LDAP server up, running and configured.

When configuring and/or re-configuring libnss-ldap and/or libpam-ldap it's always better to do it using dpkg-reconfigure rather than editing files by hand since the right services are then restarted automatically.

Install the needed modules:

apt-get install ldap-utils libpam-ldap libnss-ldap nscd

debianPackaging (for dummies) part two

So now that you built your package you want to put some nice message during its installation...

shell script in the postinstall? Naaahh... it's highly deprecated... debconf is what you're looking for.

debconf is not that complicated thing as debuild is. Clicking the link you get most of the stuff explained.

Just a couple of things:

* remember to declare every variable you use in your templates file
* remember to put dh_installdebconf in your rules file
* if you really want to display that info message that you really want to display put Type: note

debianPackaging (for dummies) part one

I'm writing this post because quite recently I've had to deal with some simple debian packaging and it took me a while (2 days) to obtain something out of it. Debian mantainer guide didn't help and googling around neither.

Luckily my beloved colleague helped me in find my way to a debian package.

The problem seemed quite easy: I have N scripts and I wanted just to create a bunch of packages to ease the installation of them.

First thing to do:

mkdir <name-of-package>-<version>
cd <name-of-package>-<version>
mv <all-the-scripts-you-want> .
dh_make

This will create a debian directory inside your dir and hopefully a <name-of-package>-<version>.orig.tar.gz outside of that (if not don't worry it'll appear).

Now you have two choices:
1) create just one binary package out of your source directory
2) create multiple binary packages

Here is the point where I got puzzled since nowhere is written how debuild takes the informations of what to put where.

Now the Debian Mantainer Guide and many other resources explains you how to use debian/rules, debian/control files but actually they don't explain really what to put there (at least I haven't found where...).

. debian/rules
This is nothing more than a Makefile itself and it's called automatically each time you run debuild.

. debian/control
This lists the package(s) that will be built and theirs characteristics (dependencies over all)

What no-one tells you is that debian directory is the **special** place that HAS to contain your scripts/your binaries in their final-destination-directory path.

Case 1) --single binary--
So if you want scriptA to finish in /usr/share/whatever/scriptA directory once your package is installed, you have to put it somehow in debian/usr/share/whatever/. Pay attention that the script doesn't have to be already there but has to be put there during debuild, i.e. you have to write inside debian/rules the commands to take scriptA from your-source-dir and put it in your-source-dir/debian/usr/share/whatever/

Snippet of debian/rules:

install)
install -m 755 scriptA debian/usr/share/whatever/

Case 2) --mulitple binaries--
Same as Case 1) BUT the script(s) has to be put in debian/usr/share/whatever/name-of-the-package, where name-of-the-package is the name of the binary package that you defined in debian/control

Now go in the source directory and run debuild, if you are lucky everything will go fine.

televisioneItaliana

Dopo un pò che stiamo fuori ci siamo disabituati a vedere la televisione. Non a vedere i programmi che ti piacciono, che aspetti, che cerchi, ma a vedere la televisione così, tanto per guardarla. Ovviamente parlo della televisione italiana. Di questo strano animale che collega ogni italiano con il suo vicino di divano e il telecomando.

Fatto sta che questo fine settimana siamo andati nel bel mezzo della foresta finlandese (più o meno qui) e abbiamo trovato un mökki (cottage) con una parabola. Da buoni italiani che si rispettano abbiamo acceso la televisione. Pochi secondi sono bastati per capire che nulla era migliorato.

"Tette, culi, tette, culi, tette, culi..."

Un'orgia indistinta di immagini con un solo comun denominatore. Livello culturale patetico. Contenuti nessuno. Strilli, schiamazzi, gente che si scanna, tanti che parlano senza dire niente, esprimono opinioni senza sapere di cosa si stia parlando... insomma una monnezza.

La cosa triste è che la televisione rispecchia la società e la società è influenzata dalla televisione. Non so di preciso dove è iniziato questo circolo vizioso. Ma di certo allo stato attuale delle cose la situazione è tremenda...

Avevo fatto un pensiero a comprare la parabola, ma sono tornato velocemente sui miei passi.

Resto coi 4 canali finlandesi, capisco poco, ma capisco abbastanza da realizzare che la qualità è nettamente migliore.

After a while that we are abroad we became unused to watch television. Not watching the programs that you like, that you wait, that you look for, but just watching television for the sake of watching it. Of course I'm talking about italian television. About this strange animal that links every italian to his neighbor on the sofa and to the remote.

So we spent this weekend in the middle of the finnish forest (more or less here) and we found a mökki (cottage) with the satellite dish. Like good italians we turned on the TV. Few seconds were enough to understand that nothing was changed.

An unclear orgy of images with the same thing in common. Cultural level: pathetic. Contents: nothing. Screams, noises, people that fight, many that speak without saying anything, express opinions without knowing what they are talking about... in conclusion... trash.

The sad thing is that the TV mirrors the society and the society is influenced by the television. I don't know exactly where this vicious circle began. For sure the actual situation is terrible...
I thought to buy the dish, but I changed mind quickly.

I stay with the 4 finnish channels, I don't understand that much, but enough to realize that the quality is definitely higher.
